Ryan Suter, Minnesota- interesting news out of Minny had the their best defenseman complaining to the media about being paired with Jonas Brodin in practice. He insists on playing with a right hand shot like Jared Spurgeon and the numbers do tell the story. Most of Suter's 20 points in 22 game came with Spurgeon on his side, so his dissatisfaction could be an issue to fantasy owners- if these pairings stick around for awhile. Quick note- he did score the game-winner last night so maybe it doesn't matter much after all.
Shayne Gostisbehere, Philadelphia- Another goal tonight from the Union College standout, with three of his four goals assisted by Giroux. The two seem to have developed chemistry which could go far in determining whether the youngster stays on top op unit when Mark Streit returns. I would ride the wave and hope the young stud becomes an immediate fantasy sensation.
Dion Phaneuf, Toronto- No longer a sure thing for 50+ points, Phaneuf is off to a great start with 16 points in 24 games. While I am reluctant to endorse him as a solid fantasy option for the remainder of the season, it does look like coach Babcock is getting the most out of him. The Leafs have turned it around and Phaneuf has been a big part of it. Ride him while he is rolling.
Rasmus Ristolainen, Buffalo- The good. The 21-year old is coming off a monster 3-point performance and has picked up 18 points in 25 games. The former overall 8th pick is breaking out before our eyes and is quickly approaching must-start fantasy status.
Cody Franson, Buffalo- the bad. Despite getting top playing time, he has failed to resemble the consistent point getter from his Toronto stint. Starting to remind me of the John Michael Liles fade. Hold on a bit longer but it's looking like even Zach Bogosian might end up being more fantasy relevant in Buffalo.
