It was the first meeting of the Hughes with Jack coming out on top with a PP goal in a 1-0 New Jersey win over Vancouver.  Better luck next time Quinn.

Toronto loses John Tavares for a few weeks then Andreas Johnsson left he game Saturday night. Monitor his situation and look for Alex Kerfoot to step in, maybe.

The battle between two offensive powerhouses saw only one show up as the Colorado Avalanche put a hurting on the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-2.  Don’t fret Bolts fans, the team learned from last year not to put all their eggs in one basket that is the regular season. They will still be good, very good in fact, but don’t expect the kind of offensive stats that you saw last year.

6 goals on 24 shots for the Avalanche.  Mr. Vezina winner Vasilevskiy didn’t look good last night, huh?

Every single Lightning player had at least 1 shot on goal.  Everyone’s involved.

Will G Mackenzie Blackwood get the majority of starts throughout the remainder of the season based off his 2-game winning streak and climbing the Devils out of the early season hole? Hmmmmm, I  am starting to think so.

Nice to get paid when you’re sick or injured.  Devils Nico Hischier signed a 7-year deal while on the sidelines for just under $50 million.

I’m thinking we should be seeing more offense out of the Vancouver Canucks than we have been.

I see St. Louis G Jake Allen didn’t do much in his start against Montreal on Saturday to warrant using him much as a backup this season giving up 4 goals and having an .833 save percentage. Ugly.

Best game of  Saturday night was the Boston-Toronto tilt ending in a 4-3 OT win with Morgan Reilly scoring the game-winner. Good battle. Good back-and-forth.  David Pastrnak with a wicked one-timer for his 9th of the season in that game.

Each of the 12 Bruin forwards had a SOG and 8 of them had some time on the power play.

Only 4 penalties in the game, 3 were against Toronto and the other were co-incidentals. A light-hearted affair.

Dallas needs to go on a long, extended winning streak to get back into this after winning only 2 of their first ten games.  I can see them and New Jersey climbing back into the season.

Marc-Andre Fleury returns to Pittsburgh and shuts out his former team 3-0 upping his record against them to 3-1. Congrats!

Vegas’ Paul Stastny may be a good pickup for the upcoming week with 4 games against some of the less defensive teams.

Columbus needs some of their big names to start carrying the load.  That’s what John Tortorella says anyway.

The Islanders are winning in true Barry Trotz way.

Same can be said for the Edmonton Oilers, but in a Dave Tippett kind of way.

Arizona is off a good start to their season at 4-2-1 for a change.

Can Ottawa and Minnesota be this bad?  Maybe Ottawa can be.

I had to look at that Calgary-Los Angeles score a few times to make sure I saw it correctly. The four scorers (Toffoli, Carter, Kopitar and Kovalchuk) for the Kings looked like names from seasons past.

You knew the Buffalo Sabres under new Head Coach Ralph Krueger would be winning in October. It’s Freddie Krueger season for Pete’s sake!

Wishing everyone a great week and hope all your fantasies come true!
