Some quick updates...
Sam Bennett signed a 2-year contract with the Calgary Flames ensuring he would be in camp in time and ready to resume his NHL career. Don't expect anything more than mid-30s production from the 3rd line center Drafted 4th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, the 3rd year NHLer is entering a breakout season but unless someone suffers a lengthy injury, Bennett will, in all likelihood, be relegated to 3rd line duty.
Anthony Duclair signed a 1-year deal as an Arizona Coyote restricted free-agent. Duclair burst onto the NHL scene with a tremendous training camp and seemed destined to be the next rising star on Broadway. but training camp turned into the regular season and the talented rookie struggled to find that scoring touch so prominently on display just a week earlier. Played 18 games with the Rangers before being sent down to Hartford before eventually shipped off to the desert in the Kieth Yandle deal. The Duke scored 20 goals along with 4 assists in his first full season in Arizona but couldn't duplicate that effort last year. This could be a make-or--break season for the talented winger. With a new head coach behind the bench, a new opportunity is arising in the land of the sun. Late round flyer may be worth your while since he is slated to be the 1st line right wing.
NHL Hockey is getting closer as the Traverse City prospects tournament opens up tomorrow. Young players from 8 teams meet up to showcase their skills in this 5-day tournament. Those participating are the Detroit Red Wings, Carolina Hurricanes, Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers and St. Louis Blues.
